Dusit Princess Korat - Traditional Thai massage
Episode: Thailand Part 2
Date: 22nd February
Story: Dusit Princess Korat - Traditional Thai massage (Day 5)
Presenter: Nigel Ruck
Nigel revitalises his body and mind when he gets a lesson in Thai massage at the Dusit Princess Korat hotel.
- Thai massage is an ancient art with healing properties and employs techniques that involve stretching, reflexology, acupressure and yoga.
- The massage is based on a system of energy. The masseur will use their hands, feet and knees to give gentle, rhythmic compressions and will give yoga-like stretches to pinpoint the ten major energy lines to encourage the flow of energy to re-harmonize the body.
- Thai massage has been gaining in popularity as it is leaves the client feeling refreshed, mentally alert and physically energised as a result of muscle tissues being stretched, energy pathways being cleared and joints being freed.
- Other benefits include improvements in metabolism, the digestive process and sleep patterns.
- Some athletes even choose to have a Thai massage before engaging in sport to help them with their warm up.
