The Queen Sirikit Gardens is a paradise for plant lovers and Trevor spent the afternoon wandering through and discovering the many exotic plant species growing within.
- With the Doi-Suthep National Park as its stunning backdrop, the Queen Sirikit Botanical Gardens is spread across 960ha.
- The Garden is home to 150,000 different species, four exhibition conservatories, eight glass houses and has a number of dazzling waterways and waterfalls in its natural setting. ?
- Queen Sirikit Gardens was established in 1993 as a state enterprise under the Prime Minister?s Office and is a place of botanical research, but is also open to the public to visit.
- Many rare and endangered species are found in the garden, including those indigenous to Thailand.?
- Thailand is a world leader in orchid production and The Orchid Nursery houses 500 species of wild Thai orchids. 60 of these are considered exceptional and 20 species are endangered.
- In the Arboretum, plants include ferns, climber plants and other various plant species.
- In the huge Glasshouse complex, a diverse array of plants can be found from all over the world including tropical plants, cacti and lilies.
