- Maputo’s Municipal Markets are known for their hand-crafted goods, as well as a huge range of fruits and vegetables.
- It is a sensory overload, offering exciting tastes of the local cuisine, such as the baobab fruit. This is a fruit that cures internal diseases and protects your immune system. There is also the masala – this is a fruit has a hard exterior, but on the inside, you’ll find a sweet and tangy treat.
- The market has a large range of batik paintings on offer, with all products having a fixed price.
- The markets are a fantastic place to meet a lot of interesting locals, and you can find markets all over the country offering a huge variety of wares and produce.
- The food in Mozambique is absolutely delicious, with the seafood in particular being truly incredible. The marinated prawns and lobster are a specialty of the country, using garlic, lemon juice, salt and chili to create incredible flavours.
- Not only does the Southern Sun Hotel feature a fantastic menu, the choice of luxurious rooms overlooking the ocean is absolutely incredible. Located right on the doorstep of downtown Maputo, the hotel is an ideal place to base yourself while exploring the city.
