Inverness Scenic Drive
Segment: Inverness Scenic Drive
Episode: Viking Ep – British Isles Explorer
Air Date: 1st December 2019
Presenter: Trevor Cochrane
The cultural capital of the Highlands, Inverness is a fascinating city.
- Viking offers a tour that drives along the river and into the city, letting guests see the Inverness Cathedral and the remarkable architecture of the Inverness Town House, as well as many other stops.
- Built in the late 1800s on a previous site, the Inverness Town House was built for Council Meetings. It is the only place outside of London where the British Council has met – during the Irish troubles of 1921, they formed the Inverness Solution.
- The Inverness Castle is a spot you have to check out – it’s a spectacular view from either afar or up close.
- The Castle is relatively modern, having been built in the 1830’s, though there have been records of castles or defensive structures on this location since the 11th Century.
